About Us.
Ours is an age when many churches offer good advice instead of Good News. In the words of Bob Goff, “Our problem following Jesus is that we’re trying to be a better version of ourselves, rather than a more accurate reflection of him.”
In 2019, a small group of believers asked themselves the questions, “What if there were a church that simply believed the Bible and who took seriously the commandments to “Love God and love others”? After much prayer, Christ Church was born.
While we claim no denominational affiliation, we are Wesleyan in theology. We believe in one God, who is Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, the Savior of all persons who put their faith in Him alone for eternal life.
Christ Church seeks to be a fellowship of believers who more accurately reflect Christ by living lives grounded in exploration of the Bible through worship, small groups, and personal devotion. Through these, we grow in the knowledge of God.
We believe we are called to be a holy people. In the words of Tara Beth Leach, “God is love – Love lived out through the power of the Holy Spirit in a community of gifted individuals playing one musical piece in different parts, a holy symphony.” Christ Church seeks to be such a symphony of love, where each individual is an instrument of God’s peace. Holy people are people whose lives, through the power of the Holy Spirit and their commitment to intentional transformation, reflect his holy love into the world, offering a loving alternative to the lives of those around them.
We believe God wants people everywhere to know Him and that the purpose of the church is to tell the world about Christ through its worship, witness, and loving deeds.
While the world offers counter liturgies transforming people into better consumers, worshipers at Christ Church are shaped into the character of Christ through the historical liturgies of Word and Table. Christ Church also offers mission opportunities for members to be the hands and feet of Christ as they “bear fruit in every good work.” We embrace the teachings of the historical creeds of the church, the Apostles’ Creed and the Nicene Creed.
Christ Church is a fresh expression of a historical faith. It’s liturgical but not stuffy. It’s warm and friendly but also engages and challenges our minds. But mostly, it’s a group of believers who love God and love each other, who welcome everyone and who are open to the leading of the Holy Spirit as He works in our church and in our lives.
